Grade 9 Exam Preparation Guide: School Tests and the Brevet

Published 22 September 2026 · by EduRise

Grade 9 is a year of exams: chapter tests every few weeks, term exams, and the Brevet in June. The students who cope best treat them as one continuous process. This guide gives a timetable, technique tips per subject, and a final-month checklist.

The three-layer timetable

  1. Layer 1 — every chapter (all year): lesson, practice with explanations, timed chapter exam. Score under 80% → redo in two weeks.
  2. Layer 2 — every term exam: two weeks before, retake the chapter exams of that term; one week before, do mixed sets.
  3. Layer 3 — the Brevet: from April, one full mock paper per subject per week, with a full answer review.

Exam-day technique by subject

  • Mathematics: read the whole paper first; start with the exercise you know best; write every step; check units and signs at the end.
  • Physics: formula → substitution → answer with unit; redraw circuits or force diagrams before answering.
  • Chemistry: balance before calculating; write the mole table; check that mass is conserved.
  • Biology: quote the document (“the table shows…”), then deduce, then explain with lesson knowledge; label diagrams fully.
  • Arabic: read the text twice; answer comprehension with evidence from the text; plan the expression before writing.
  • English: underline key words in questions; keep answers short and precise; leave five minutes to check grammar.

The final month checklist

  • Progress map: no red chapters left in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
  • Formula/definition sheets complete for every science.
  • At least four full mocks per subject done and reviewed.
  • Sleep schedule fixed two weeks before the exam.
  • Exam materials (ID, calculator if allowed, pens, ruler, compass) ready the day before.
