Grade 8 Science Questions: Practice Biology, Physics and Chemistry with Answers

Published 22 September 2026 · by EduRise

The fastest way to know whether a Grade 8 science chapter is understood is to answer questions on it. Below are worked examples of the question types that appear in Grade 8 Lebanese school tests, with answers and short explanations. The full banks — hundreds of questions per subject — are on the EduRise subject pages linked at the end.

Physics: circuits, forces and pressure

  1. Question: In a series circuit with two identical lamps and one battery, one lamp is removed. What happens to the other? — Answer: it goes out. Explanation: in a series circuit there is a single path; removing a component opens the circuit and current stops.
  2. Question: What is the weight of a 2 kg object on Earth (g ≈ 10 N/kg)? — Answer: 20 N. Explanation: W = m × g = 2 × 10 = 20 N; weight is a force measured in newtons, mass in kilograms.
  3. Question: Pressure is force divided by what? — Answer: area. Explanation: P = F / A; the same force on a smaller area gives a larger pressure — which is why a knife edge cuts.

Chemistry: matter, atoms and reactions

  1. Question: Is dissolving sugar in water a physical change or a chemical reaction? — Answer: a physical change. Explanation: no new substance forms; the sugar can be recovered by evaporating the water.
  2. Question: How many atoms are in one molecule of CO₂? — Answer: 3. Explanation: one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms.
  3. Question: Complete the word equation: carbon + oxygen → ? — Answer: carbon dioxide. Explanation: combustion of carbon in oxygen produces CO₂.

Biology: the human body

  1. Question: Which blood vessels carry blood away from the heart? — Answer: arteries. Explanation: arteries carry blood away from the heart under high pressure; veins return it.
  2. Question: Where does most nutrient absorption happen in the digestive system? — Answer: the small intestine. Explanation: its long length and villi give a very large absorbing surface.
  3. Question: What is the role of the diaphragm? — Answer: it contracts and flattens to draw air into the lungs (inhalation) and relaxes for exhalation.

How to practise Grade 8 science

  • Do 10–15 questions per chapter after the lesson; read every explanation.
  • Take the timed chapter exam; retake if under 80%.
  • Keep one summary sheet per chapter with the diagram and the key sentences.
  • Use the sample question pages for each subject to see the level of the full bank.
